Apart from a magnificent performance from Lotta Wahlin from Sweden, the fabulous National Course was probably the winner during this week, an unusual cold north wind for mid May made the greens difficult to hold, but Lotta took control of the event from day one, the only player to break par, her one under 71, gave her the lead by 3 shots. A second 71 saw her moving further ahead of the field with Gwladys Nocera (France) her closest challenger, 8 shots adrift. The course was proving very tough for the rest of the field, but Lotta remained cool and focused shooting a one over 73 in the 3rd. She was disappointed and was unlucky not to be the only player to break 70 during the entire week when she missed from 6 feet on the last hole for birdie. Her 7 under par in total and 12 shot winning margin was just one shot short of Laura Davies record winning margin of 13 under. In the end, Lotta pocketed the first prize of €34,500 her first ever win on tour, which no one could deny she did with grace and style. She has since one another title the Wales Ladies Championship of Europe and is currently very close to getting automatic selection for the 2009 Solheim Cup. Three players Johanne Westerburg (South Africa), Stacey Lee Bregman (South Africa) and Paula Marti (Spain) shared second place 12 shots behind.
